How to create services on Windows 2003

A lot of people unknown some tools of Resource kit for Windows 2003, that can be essential in a environment implementation. Twice of this tools are instsrv.exe and srvany.exe that bring the possibility to you create new services for Windows 2003, using a executable file or a vbs script.
To create a new service on Windows 2003 follow the steps:

1.) Copy to server the files instsrv.exe e srvany.exe, that be found on the Windows 2003 Resource Kit.

2.) Open the MS-Dos Prompt (cmd.exe) and type:
pathINSTSRV.EXE “Service Name” pathSRVANY.EXE

3.) Open the Registry, (Regedit.exe) and search the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesService Name

4.) On Edit menu, click on Add key. Type name Parameters and click at Ok.

5.) Enter on the Parameters key

6.) Click at Edit menu and click at Add value. Type the values like below:
Value Name: Application
Data type: REG_SZ
Sequency: the path of executable file that you want for run with service.

7.) Close the Registry and go to Services at Control Panel and Start your new service!

8.) Don’t forget to set up recovery options on your new service.
